New Yorkers love hype and hoopla. While their reputation for being outspoken, opinionated and downright pushy might seem outlandish in some settings, Miami is ALSO “a city that doesn’t sleep” which explains why we’re often considered an honorary borough. Not convinced? Witness Shake Shack, the popular burger phenomenon that has New Yorkers lining up for hours for a simple taste of roadside comfort food. When Danny Meyer decided to expand his super successful brand outside New York, his next stop was Lincoln Road Mall.

One of the first occupants of the post-modern landmark that is the Herzog and de Meuron Eleven-Eleven Building, our Shake Shack is tucked away on a side street facing Lenox Avenue and not nearly as tough to navigate as the NYC locations. Fans queue up (briefly) for the Shack Burger, the ‘Shroom burger and the Shack-cago Dog just as they do in Manhattan, but wait time can be counted in minutes, not hours. Yukon gold fries are crisp and delicious with or without a generous Shack-made topping of cheddar cheese sauce.

Custom blended Concretes that are the signature of Shake Shack South Beach can be overwhelmingly sweet but still prove mighty popular with fans of the “Key Lime Pie oh’My” - a dense concoction of frozen vanilla custard whipped up with an entire slice of the tart, locally-produced dessert. Guests can order up one of the house creations or design their own blend from a list of toppings like hot fudge, cookie dough, fruit and nuts. While most of the city may be obsessed with perfecting a bikini-ready body, the popularity of our first Shake Shack proves there is more to life than salads and sit ups.
