Travel + Leisure ranks Miami Metro Zoo among the top zoos in the country. As the only subtropical zoo in the continental United States, Miami Metro Zoo is a place to meander through trails and encounter a wide range of animal life from Asia, Africa, Australia and Latin America. The lush, tropical setting replicates the animals’ natural habitats and gives you the thrill of being on safari. You may forget there’s a moat separating you from that lion, but don’t worry. The lion knows it’s there!
Koalas, komodo dragons, okapi and dozens of other animals that you may have never seen await around every turn. Or you can glide above this wildlife wonderland inside a guided, air-conditioned monorail.
Or take a behind the scenes tram tour. Or pedal through, with the entire family, in one of the Zoo’s four-wheeled Safari Cycles.
Finally, you can even see Nick Jr.’s Go, Diego, Go! Diego and his animal-rescuing friends leap into action every day in Diego’s Discovery Den, a Nickelodeon-produced show that delights kids of all ages while it educates them about the world of animals.
