Miami Beach parking can be one of the most frustrating aspects of a trip to South Beach unless you know how to approach it beforehand. Here are our suggestions to alleviate the hassle of finding a place to park.
Current parking options in Miami Beach…
1.) Most importantly, remember that a car is actually somewhat of a burden in Miami Beach since there are numerous public transportation options available to you. First and foremost these include taxis and the South Beach Local Shuttle Bus service which loops around South Beach hitting all the important stops. For a mere $0.25 you can travel from one end of South Beach to the other with minimum hassle.
2.) There are numerous parking garages all around Miami Beach and especially around the high tourist traffic areas of Lincoln Road and the beach front area. You’ll find no less than 12 parking areas within a one block radius of Lincoln Road, and high-rise parking garages at 7th & Collins Avenue and 13th & Collins Avenue that are one block from the beach.
3.) In the beachfront areas along Ocean Drive you’ll find solar-powered parking meters that accept cash, credit cards and debit cards. We’ve included photos of these units below so you’ll know in advance how to operate them…
4.) You can also purchase and renew your Garage Access Cards online on the City of Miami Beach website.
The City also provide an “iPark” or IVPM In Vehicle Parking Meter, which is billed as a “state-of-the-art electronic device that allows drivers the ease, convenience, and security of paying for parking with the push of a button.”
Parking Cards can be purchased at most Publix Super Markets and Walgreens Drug Stores around town…
