For those of you who might still remember the 1980s, we direct your attention to the kitschy little bar on Espanola Way where you’ll find us trying to outsmart the Playboy Pinball Machine while devouring flawless Philly cheesesteaks… Kill Your Idol. If free drinks, cool people and retro pop art brings a smile to your face, stop by this Friday, May 21 around 8pm to check out “Pop Shop Don’t Stop” an exhibition of New York City Street Art from the 80s to today.
The opening night party celebrates the works of Keith Haring, Barbara Kruger, Paolo Buggiani, and Linus Coraggio. DJ Edwin Adams and Cub will spin era-appropriate tunes and the bar will serve all you early birds free drinks from 8 - 9pm. May 21 would have been Pop Shop Graffiti Artist Keith Haring’s 52nd birthday though he died at the end of the decade best captured by his work. Three panels that comprised the 10 panel sign in front of his SoHo shop have been preserved and will be on display on South Beach before they travel on to Europe.
