The notion of upscale Asian fusion dining has arrived on our Atlantic shores. It’s now possible to experience expense account-worthy New York style Asian dining at both the Fontainebleau’s Hakkasan and the elegant Mr. Chow at the W Hotel South Beach.

Trendy and sceney, Mr. Chow is drop dead gorgeous and priced to dazzle a VIP crowd. While it’s best to visit with a larger group interested in a mix and match meal, more intimate parties can order a set menu that highlights the kitchens strengths. Wait staff are plentiful and make strong suggestions when you order  so decide to yield to their advice or stand your ground if you have a particular entree in mind. Seafood dishes, dumplings and spicy beef pancakes are stellar as are the house fried rice and signature noodle dishes. Mr. Chow may never replace your favorite Sunday take out spot, but it’s great to visit a glamorous Asian eatery for a special night at the W Hotel.
